PlayStation’s London Studio is looking for Mission Designers with a wide range of skills to join an experienced team of developers working on the future of VR gaming. As a 1st Party Studio our remit is to produce games which show the exciting potential of the latest PlayStation hardware.
The team have already released VRWorlds and Blood & Truth and are moving on to the next big thing in VR – and we want you to join us!
As a Mission Designer, you will possess the ability to effectively collaborate with art, design and engineering to help produce some of the best missions in the business, crafting level layouts and scripts that deliver the highest quality player experience

You have a deep understanding of ‘flow’ within a level, mechanically & spatially.
You speak passionately & clearly about how your mission ideas play out.
You like to collaborate and are able to share levels with another designer.
You are excellent at implementing features & mechanics and know how to tune for ‘feel’.
You are flexible in your workflow and can learn to use new tools quickly.
You are happy to show your work early and embrace feedback from all disciplines.

YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with lead mission designer & design director to deliver on the product vision.
Create amazing missions, which utilize core mechanics in varied and exciting ways.
Make levels that lead the player intuitively, ensuring they understand their objectives.
Influence the creation of core mechanics, which you can reuse across missions.
Understand the Narrative goals and incorporate them into your mission design.
Balance & fine-tune the progression, challenges and rewards within your levels.
Strong scripting skillset and a proponent of clean, commented visual scripting.
Use industry standard and in-house tool sets.
Define design/tool requirements with developers and help to refine processes.
Document your mission designs, beat by beat within the wiki.
Assist with prototyping, research and development.
Experience in building a level from whitebox to shippable quality.
Great document writing and diagrammatic skills.
Experience with working in visual scripting tools such as Blueprint.
Portfolio that demonstrates ability to build & script missions.
Experience in developing for VR and/or AAA games.
Experience working with and supporting new engine and tool development.
