Following from the success of their recent best-selling PSVR title Blood & Truth, PlayStation London Studio is looking for an experienced VFX Artist to join our Art team to work on future VR titles.
With responsibilities such as particle system authoring, texture creation and implementation of destruction systems, you’ll be working alongside a talented team of artists, designers and coders to ensure delivery of AAA VR experiences. You should be someone who loves the challenges and opportunities of working in a small team and always pushes yourself in the pursuit of excellence. This role requires someone who is obsessed with the finer details of colour, light, movement and timing, and is driven by feedback and iteration.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Creating a wide range of awesome-looking real-time visual effects: Fire, smoke, dust, explosions, destruction, ambient effects etc
Using our bespoke particle authoring tools alongside Maya, Houdini and Photoshop
Taking VFX tasks from concept through to authoring and full integration into game
Collaborating with other team members and leads to schedule dependencies and ensure timely completion of work
Troubleshooting, bug fixing and optimisation of VFX
Strong experience as a VFX Artist for games or film
Experience of authoring offline FX textures using Maya, Houdini, After Effects, FumeFX and Photoshop
A good understanding of physical movement and cinematic timing
A strong understanding of the authoring techniques of real-time VFX and particles in various game engines (UE4, in-house engine etc)
Experience of using various scripting languages (Python, Lua, Mel, VEX, Processing, H/GLSL)
Ability to create shaders using various pipelines (material editor node graphs, HLSL etc)
A range of generalist game development/asset creation skills
A strong understanding of how VFX can communicate game mechanics and enhance the player’s experience
Strong communication skills
Self-motivated and creative, with excellent problem-solving skills
Understanding of the principles of HDR and PBR
Experience working with Volumetric and Liquid simulations
