OVERVIEW
At PlayStation London Studio, we are on a mission to make award-winning, landmark games. Our upcoming PlayStation 5 online multiplayer game will be focused on a brand-new IP we are extraordinarily excited about.
Our new game is close to our hearts, as the whole team collaborated on coming up with the concept from the very beginning. We’ve seen this idea grow from a seed, and now we’re looking for new starters to continue our journey on shaping our plans for this AAA project.

About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Senior Gameplay Animator to join our Animation team. They will be involved in all aspects of the production from initial concept of character movement and considerations of implementation to collaboration on the creation of spectacular hand-keyed animation for a diverse range of characters. All of which complements our gameplay mechanics, responsiveness, and behaviour.
Working closely with our designers on our ground breaking proprietary animation and engine technologies offers a unique opportunity to use all your game design and creative skill to truly define a next-generation multiplayer gameplay experience on new landmark PlayStation IP.
Scope of Work
- Build and take ownership of high-quality and responsive animations. Ensuring the quality and gameplay needs by both collaborating across development streams and challenging for the improvement of title and content.
- Be comfortable pushing animation principles to accommodate gameplay restriction without compromising the aesthetic, staying true to our unique characters.
- Implement and test animations in the game engine to drive compelling player experiences.
- Understand animation workflows and work with the tech animation team to improve the pipelines.
Essential Knowledge & Skills
- Experience producing responsive, high quality gameplay animation (excellent sense of weight, timing, and strong posing).
- Passion for game development with a problem-solving demeanor and the will to challenge your colleagues to achieve incredible playable and non-playable characters.
Impact & Complexity
High quality, captivating characters are a signature of PlayStation Studio titles. Our Animation teams are fundamental to bringing our characters to life, bridging creative, technical and design fields they marry together art and science to allow us to deliver on this expectation. You will lead and be responsible critical areas of work within our gameplay animation. This involves sharing knowledge across our teams and partners, but also responsibility for supporting estimation and prioritisation of tasks through to long term planning.
Supervision
Senior Animators bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise, you will be a pillar of our team. They have no people management responsibilities. But they are the role models and voices of their teams, and it is encouraged that they support, mentor, inspire and support more junior members of the team.
In taking charge of large areas of the projects, Senior Animators are responsible for ensuring quality and completion of supporting artists and partners.

Our roles can be flexible in terms of work location in the UK. We will consider the individual’s preference for hybrid, remote or onsite working. We may be able to support remote working from a selection of other countries depending on location and the role you're applying to, so please reach out to see if that could be a possibility.
