Meet Toby Hynes, Character Supervisor on the VR team!
How did you start at London Studio?
I joined 5 years ago as
Character Lead on VR Worlds.
What does your role entail?
I run the Character team who
model and texture all the characters for our games.
What do you find most exciting about your work here?
It’s pretty exciting working on cutting edge technology. We’ve done a lot of work towards pushing the envelope of character interaction and player immersion in VR – and that’s something I’m very proud of.
What has your career path looked like over the years?
I began as a traditional
illustrator at Games Workshop; drawing Orcs, Space Marines and the like, before
gravitating into games as a concept artist. Character modelling was a natural
progression for me. I’ve been a Lead for the last 14 years.
What is it like to work in the heart of central London?
It’s pretty cool and there’s always lots to see and do. We have a very good comic shop nearby called Gosh which we visit pretty much every other day!
If you could describe London Studio in a few words, what would they be?
A very dedicated team who are
very passionate about what they do and strive to really push new tech forward.
Being a first party Sony studio is great too as we are part of a pretty
phenomenal family of studios.
