What is Dev Support?
The Development Support team supports and is involved with testing the game and identifying bugs and issues. They’ll write reports based on tests and communicate issues out to the wider team, to ensure that our game is the best that it can be. They also assist in design research, conduct playtests on new game content and help with introduction of new processes.
Development support is an evolution of the QA tester role, bringing in more responsibilities and opportunities. We work with a wide range of different disciplines throughout the studio to aid the teams, where needed. To learn more about our Dev Support team, please check out our blog post!
As a Dev Support intern, you will be working with other development disciplines to aid in game development by creating and executing test plans, highlighting risks, and assisting with development of our processes. You’ll get a behind the scenes look of what it takes to make a game from start to finish.
You will grow and learn the role, as well as, other disciplines of development, where you can talk to some of our inhouse experts that can aid with your personal development in various ways. To aid you in getting the most out of the role you will be working closely with our senior members of staff to provide guidance and support, as well as being fully integrated into the team that will provide further support and assistance.
What you’ll be doing:
- Collaborating with the rest of the dev support team to execute test plans on the title
- Learning and planning for testing of game features
- Developing your own knowledge of QA services, techniques, and tools
- Using defect tracking software to report issues
What you’ll learn:
- How to use Jira, an industry standard task/bug tracking software and various other tools
- Testing methodologies and strategies
- PlayStation testing tools
- Video game development lifecycle
- Responsibilities and workflows of the different teams involved
