Meet Gabor Soos, Animation Director
08/07/2019
How did you start at London Studio?
I started twice at the studio! The first time back in 2007, when I joined to work as an animator on EyePet. In 2012 I returned to the studio to lead the animation team working on Wonderbook , moving on to PSVR projects. First on VR Worlds and then Blood and Truth.
What does your role entail?
On Blood and Truth I was the Animation Lead on all the story sequences in the game. My role entails visualizing the story from the written script to VR, including pre-visualization and prototyping scenes. I also prepare the team and actors for motion capture, oversee the capture process, acting performances and finally take the scenes through post-production and implementation in our game engine.
What do you find most exciting about your work here?
The studio has a long history working with new technologies, peripherals and media, which makes my work extremely diverse and creative in terms of animation! The exciting part is coming up with new possibilities and directions to take our games into, and then working with the team to turn these into reality.
What has your career path looked like over the years?
It’s been a journey! I’ve had the challenge of making new and innovative gaming experiences each time, supporting PlayStation’s vision which is just an amazing creative process to be a part of. Both the studio and company have always been extremely supportive of what we want to achieve, which makes all the difference for a creative like me.
What is it like to work in the heart of central London?
We’re in the creative part of town, which is inspiring for an artist as there is so much talent around. It gets busy on a sunny day, but there is never any shortages of bars and restaurants for a team lunch, or after work socializing! With Oxford Street, Soho and the West End on our doorstep, you couldn’t get closer to the beating heart of London if you tried.
If you could describe London Studio in a few words, what would they be?
Up and coming studio, determined to push boundaries and be the best in everything we make. Watch this space! 🙂
